Dig Out Your Soul

So by some reasons of the unknown, I've come across the bootlegged tracks of the new Oasis album, "Dig Out Your Soul." Now, before I get all the AA comments (Artist Advocacy), I do plan on buying the album, 100%. I did go through a time (some time ago) where I figured, "hey, with programs like Napster, why buy anything?" But, being a musician myself and simply out of respect, I've reformed my "free-for-all" ways. From what I hear in the new album, "Dig Out Your Soul" is Oasis as we know them, and as we don't know them.
Let me explain. The last two big albums to come out of the UK were Radiohead's "In Rainbows," and Coldplay's "Viva La Vida." Both excellent albums in my opinion--and for unique reasons. "In Rainbows" was Radiohead's quasi-return to the 'traditional' band, in contrast to the more electronic and computerized material they had been putting out, yet it still had a fresh new flavor. "Viva La Vida" is as much of one huge epic song as it is an album with separate songs on it. Of course there are separate tracks, but everything, and I mean everything, blends together. Brian Eno's soundscapes bring an element that makes the album feel both earthly and celestial at the same time.
As for Oasis...."Dig Out Your Soul" is partly what we expect. Its a maturing, cleaned up version of the band we knew from 1994, which has been happening on each subsequent album since then. But now they bring an element that evokes a rough, primal feeling catering to both our youth and our aged demeanor. There are no pop songs here. There are no catchy little tunes. Instead they replace the complacent "song" with, to paraphrase Noel, jams and grooves.
I'll get into individual tracks later, but with less than two weeks from the official release, I don't want to give too much away. By the way, this is my first Blog. Be nice.
